The Art of Climate Change Gardening
Void Art Centre, Northern Ireland
Have you ever considered your garden to be a work of art and yourself to be the artist?
Climate change gardening encourages the development of creativity both within ourselves and as part of our home and local environments. These are gardens that are both productive and restorative with inspiration from artists who garden. Garden like an artist and consider seeds and plants as art media which can be combined and expressed in a multiplicity of ways. Forget the rule books of gardening and use experimentation within your garden studio (either at home or in the community) to generate edible and nature friendly landscapes.
This workshop was delivered as part of CHOICE (Challenging Health Outcomes/Integrating Care Environments) an interdisciplinary research project led by Professor Gerard Leavey (Director of the Bamford Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing) working with mental health organisations in Northern Ireland to produce a mapping of community wellbeing assets for adults with long term mental health conditions. The Void Art Centre in Derry has been invited to become a cultural asset as part of this research project.
